Diversified: This is arguably the most universal technique in use today. If you’ve been to another chiropractor, chances are you have been adjusted with Diversified. With this technique, your lower back may be adjusted while you lay on your side; your neck may be adjusted while you lay on your back.
Cox-Flexion/Distraction: The lower part of the adjusting table swivels, allowing the doctor to flex the lower spine and provide traction to the vertebrae and discs.
Thompson drop: A portion of the table drops (about an inch) allowing for a table-assisted adjustment. It is another low force technique designed to realign the body without causing pain or discomfort to the patient.
Activator: A spring-loaded device (looks like a handheld silver pogo stick) is used adjust the spine and extraspinal joints. It is a very low force adjustment suitable for patients with low tolerance to more aggressive treatments, for patients who have decreased bone density, or may have complications with a more aggressive method, and for patients who have increased spasm due to an injury that they can not be adjusted any other way until the spasm subsides.
